Superstar DM-507 Dynamic Replacement Microphone
. This unit is made by Superstar/Workman and has been wired to be compatible to
KENWOOD TS-520, TS-820
and most
ANY 4 Pin KENWOOD Radio
as they have kept their 4 pin wiring standard through the years. These
microphones have enough output level to drive these old high impedance rigs well and also work great with the low impedance ones
.
This is a good sounding little light weight replacement microphone. Great for a "get by" microphone for an old radio that is missing one or for every day use. The little "Belden" style skinny cord stretches a long way and for some folks this is the only mike they need!
Are these cheap mikes?
YES!
But these sound great with most radios and may very well be all you are looking for!

Just wanted to tell you that I bought this mic just to see if the Kenwood TS-530s a friend had given me was even usable. I'd buy a better mic later if the radio was any good. Turns out the radio works fine and so does the mic. I've gotten good audio reports every time. The word "fantastic audio" has even been used more than once. I won't be replacing this mic anytime soon.

If You want to pay 55 or 60 dollars or more for the Kenwood Name that’s up to you. You probably won't get any better sound from a hand mike! These will surprise you!
This especially applies if just need a mike for a unit you have just obtained or you want to sell your radio and don't want to give away your expensive base mike with it etc.
One final note: If you bought a used radio at a Hamfest or otherwise, you might want to make sure your radio is really operational. These are wired to the correct 4 pin Kenwood standard microphone wiring, each one is tested individually, if it doesn't work on yours, it's the radio not the mike!!!
